| Evening meetings. Mondays in January, March, May, September and November at the Rodat Hotel, Javea. The January meeting is the AGM, while the others feature a speaker addressing a relevant topic, for example The Spanish Civil War, English-language Radio in Spain, Gardening in Spain, The Medieval Pilgrimage Route to Santiago de Compostela, Islamic Spain and Old Jávea. The programme has also included Spanish music and flamenco. Optional dinner at a local restaurant. Day trips to places of interest within the region, for example, to Valencia, Xátiva, Simat de Valldigna, Novelda, Elche, and Cartagena. Excursions, twice a year (usually May and October), exploring areas of Spain and lasting for three or four-nights. Longer excursions over the past years have taken us to Cuenca and Albarracín; Baeza, Úbeda, Córdoba and the Cazorla Natural Park; Santiago de Compostela and Coruña; Toledo and Aranjuez; Peñíscola, Benicarló, Tarragona and Morella; and Seville. Visits to concerts or other musical events in the region, such as at the Palau in Altéa. (once or twice a year) Social events. While there is an opportunity to socialise with fellow members at all our events, some are purely social such as the summer garden party and Christmas lunch | ||||
